Commitment Management FAQ
I cannot close the current work plan, What can I do?
|
The most obvious reason for this is that the workplan still has commitments that are not updated as Done, Not Done, or Ongoing. Always look at the Committed Remaining count in the Workplan dialog. Once this count reaches zero, the Finalize Workplan button will be enabled and you can then close the work plan.

How do I modify the Committed Dates on a Workplan?
|
Committed Start (CS) and Committed Finish (CF) dates cannot be modified once the workplan is finalized. You must status each activity on the weekly work plan (done/not done/ongoing) before you can finalize the work plan. This is important for accurate tracking of commitment reliability.
Why the limitation?
The Last Planner System® is designed to measure the reliability of planning for a short period of time (usually a week but sometime less). vPlanner uses those dates to measure how well the team performs against meeting their promised dates during this short interval. This is very different than conventional methods of project control that measure performance against a baseline that is set much earlier and often with many assumptions about the work that may or may no longer apply. Once a WWP is finalized the team is free to adjust the work to reflect the impact of the variance while attempting to maintain alignment with the milestones.
